New Music for Alan Alda and PBS
One of the things I love about scoring films is that with every project, I get dropped into a totally different world. Take for instance, “The Human Spark” that I just scored for PBS (premiering tomorrow night). I learned that after countless years of development on our planet, a brand new creature appeared only about 40,000 years ago, different than Neanderthals or anything that had come before. That creature was – us.
Alan Alda and Chedd-Angier-Lewis (Boston) have created this three-hour series - “The Human Spark” – a project that takes fascinating new look at this relatively new species, and the ways it is similar to (and very different from) any previous creature on earth.
The series was a real joy to score, and gave me a chance to create music different from anything I’d done before. You can hear a few short examples from the score here:
Sample 1
Sample 2
Sample 3
Sample 4 (Music for Promo)
The three-hour series airs on PBS – Jan. 6, 13, and 20 at 8 pm (check your local listings). Hope you get a chance to watch this series, and hope you have a great year!
