Whooshes, Whirrs and Boops

If you're at all familiar with music I've written over the years, you probably know that I usually compose either melodic (and often orchestral) scores, or pretty hard-edged music.

Well, forget all of that. On Wednesday (March 22), PBS is premiering a national 2-hour documentary "Exploring Space: The Quest For Life" (9-11 pm - check your local listings for details). No strong melodies or hard-edged music here. The score is primarily ethereal sounds and textures, more along the lines of musical sound effects. Ok, ok, I admit it - this one was a lot of fun to do.

You can listen to a few shortened samples from the music score below. The samples won't make as much sense as they might if you were watching the film, but you should still get a rough idea of the score.
